  1. Boil the jaggery in water until it dissolves completely. Drain away impurities.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, cardamoms, baking powder, ginger powder. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Add the coconut flakes to this bowl.
  4. Mash the bananas to a fine paste in a blender. Mix that with the jaggery water.
  5. Add the jaggery banana mash to the dry ingredients in parts. Mix well and adjust water if needed, until you get an idli batter consistency.
  6. Grease appe pan with ghee or oil. Wait for it to heat up a little.
  7. Pour in 1 tbsp of the batter into each cavity. Add more ghee on top. Flip and cook until all sides brown evenly. Don’t overcook. Always do on low flame.
  8. Serve as festival prasad to God or enjoy on a rainy day as hot snack with chai.
