  1. In a mixing bowl take the ragi flour (finger millet flour)and besan and mix well.
  2. To it add salt, chilli powder, ajiwan and mix well.
  3. Now to it add finely chopped onions and coriander leaves, asafoetida, finely chopped ginger,green chilli and now add buttermilk slowly by parts and keep on mixing. The batter should not be too thick nor too liquid. It should have flowing consistency. Add the freshly grated coconut. Mix well and let it rest for ten minutes.
  4. Heat and grease a non-stick pan/tawa and pour one ladle of the batter onto it. Switch on the gas and keep it on medium flame and let it cook for some time. Sprinkle some oil.
  5. When the bottom side turns golden brown, flip it over and cook the other side also. Serve hot with chutney /; ketchup or sambhar. You can serve without filling also.
