The ingredients needed to make Arbi daal:
Get 3/4 cup toor dal
Make ready 3 1/2 cup water
Take 1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
Prepare 1 tsp mustard / rai
Make ready 1 tsp jeera / cumin
Take 1 dried red chilli
Take Few Curry leaves
Take 1 pinch hing / asafoetida
Take 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
Make ready 1 green chilli, slit
Prepare 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Prepare 1/2 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
Make ready 1 tsp salt
Prepare 1 cup chopped Arbi
Get 1 tsp Chopped coriander leaves
Instructions to make Arbi daal:
Firstly in a pressure cook ¾ cup toor dal and 3 cup water and 1 cup chopped Arbi,red chilli powder and turmeric powder and salt for 5 whistles.
Let it cool down completely.
Now in another kadai heat 1 tbsp ghee and splutter 1 tsp mustard,1/2 TSP ajwain and 1 tsp jeera, 1 dried red chilli, few curry leaves and pinch of hing.
Add in 1 onion followed by 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and 1 green chilli. saute well.
Add the cooked dal along with 1 tsp salt. mix well.
Simmer for 5 minutes or till dal turns smooth and absorbs flavour.
Finally, serve arbi dal fry with hot jeera rice or ghee rice.
